“The complete short stories of Ernest Hemingway was a skilled compilation of his short stories. In the preface he admits that he liked some of them better than others and he knew that some of them were better than others. These short stories can provide a look into the way Hemingway wrote as time and setting changed and give an understanding of what he wrote these stories about.
To understand these short stories, you must first understand the circumstances they were written under. If that is done, the reader will see the true meaning of the story and have a better understanding of Hemingway in general.
The most interesting part of these short stories are the multi-cultural aspect to them. When Hemingway writes a story about a foreign country, he writes using their diction, their slang, and even their language on occasion. This makes the stories a bit more difficult to follow and understand but it gives a new view of the characters and a new perception of the story.”
