Elizabeth Delisi has wanted to be a writer since she was in first grade, and probably would have written in the womb if she could have convinced her mother to swallow a pencil. But life hasn't always gone the way she planned, and on her road to publication she worked as a motel maid, waitress, secretary, administrative aide, substitute teacher,...more »

In "Within the Shadow of Stone," Bree and her people, the Skye, live in the age of standing stones and their worship. The land they live in is dying, because the worship of the stones has been neglected and forgotten. Bree must go on a perilous journey to find the cause of the death and decay of their land, to reverse it before it's too late. Along the way she's thwarted by enemies wanting to rule the world without faith, and she's helped by the spirit of an ancient warrior, trapped forever in one of the stone monoliths.

This is a fabulous, absorbing story of ancient cultures and ancient religions, of a time when magic ruled the world and faith was necessary to survive. Bree is a strong heroine and her stone-bound warrior is to die for. Don't miss this story, you'll love it!

What would you do if you found out there was a plot to assassinate a world leader? Who would you tell? The police? Your government?[br/][br/]Now suppose something you'd done in your past had made you lose all credibility, so no one would believe you. How could you prevent the killing?[br/][br/]This is my absolute favorite of all of Irving Wallace's books. A swift pace, moving from one character to another who end up working together as a band of misfits, this book will leave you breathless and you'll stay up all night to finish it. A must read!

I first read this book at age twelve, and it's what started me on a lifelong interest in ancient Egypt. I read it multiple times, always checking it out from the school library, until at age twenty I ordered a copy for myself from the publisher. I've read this book more times than any other, and even as an adult, it holds my interest. Eloise Jarvis McGraw is a brilliant writer, I don't know of many others who could manage this. Read it...you won't be sorry.
