  • A Christ-Centered Easter: Day-By-Day Activities to Celebrate Easter Week
    • Rated 5 stars

My wife and I decided to have an Easter that didn't involve chocolate, bunnies, or chocolate bunnies. She found this book and I brought it home from the library. With this book in hand, and without the usual Easter distractions, we had the best Easter ever.

It breaks the last week of Jesus' life down by day. Each day has scriptures that relate to that day. Studying the scriptures in this way helped me understand the chronology of the Savior's last week and increased my faith in Him as my Redeemer.

This is a great guide to a wonderful Easter week!

I liked this better than the first one. I like that the characters are still retaining some values and might be heading towards some sort of personal crisis where they have to decide where they need to choose to be altruistic or not. There's too much mild swearing for a youth novel.

I am an idealist. I am altruistic.

However, this book is not about idealism. It's not about innocence over evil. It's about two self-centered characters whose self interest tangled together enable them to defend the corrupt political establishment from an ultimately evil and destructive force.

And the characters seem to evolve ever so slightly, almost imperceptibly. Nathaniel does manage to show some backbone but it is too little too late. I keep wishing he would wise up but he doesn't. I'm holding out hope that he'll get smarter as the series progresses.

What a wonderful series. But the best part was the last few minutes. I love Joseph Smith now more than ever for dying for what he knew was true. He has set the bar high and I hope that my life lives up to the example recorded in this volume.

This was a fun little book I picked up from my daughter. The best part of the book is the way the BFG talks. I found myself often laughing out loud at his little colloquialisms. A fun read that I highly recommend.

Dry but has some useful information. I couldn't quite finish it.
