Hubby and I bought Nook Colors in April 2011 and we are hooked! I love that I can turn every book into large print for my worn out eyes. We read all kinds of books and spend a lot of time reading to the grandkids. The baby just turned 2 and is very much into the Oh David picture books while Munchkin is hooked on How the Elephant Got Such a Long... more »

Hi Dee, My new suspense novel LAKE CHARLES is set in the Smoky Mountains. Kindle now, paper (33% off for pre-sales orders) in June. Favorable review in Publishers Weekly. Sorry if this is a duplicate. Best, Ed Lynskey

Dee, "Tales of the Dying Earth" by Jack Vance is perhaps the quintessential collection of sci/fi fantasy/adventure stories ever written by one of the most revered and awarded authors to write in this genre. The words that come to mind when trying to describe his incredible achievement are: wondrous, magnificent, epic, spellbinding, dazzling, exquisite, inventive, wordsmithery, magical, elegant, enthralling, engrossing, imaginative, original, mellifluous pacing, atmospheric backdrops, transformational, fantastical storylines! I read the first story in this collection when i was 11 years old and the others in the ensuing years. Over the years I have read the collection over 20 times, each time reflecting on the joy it brings me and its life changing impact on my reading addiction. Just imagine being able to transform written words from your minds eye into life-like visions and you will then understand the sensual impact of Jack Vance's brilliance! Ironically, because of its unique qualities I have always been protective and therefore reluctant to expose this truly fabulous literary experience to others for fear of diminishing its value to me...a misguided supposition I know, but true never-the-less. So, if you want to take a journey into the unknown and wander through the beautiful worlds as penned by a master scribe then you will want to read this incredible collection of stories and revel in their beatific perfection. Storytelling at its best; a masterpiece...

I am glad I checked out your review for the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I am not sure I can handle the violence and violent sex. I want to read it because everyone talks about how good it is, but I am just afraid it will put images into my head I will never get rid of.

Hello Dee, I am hoping you are alright after your emergency surgery and wondering what it was. I myself had 3 surgeries since March the first was scheduled and the last 2 were on an emergency basis and very frightening. My first hip surgery became infected twice and they had to go back in. It is so hard to read when you are on medication. I keep reading the same sentences over and over and focusing is a real challenge. I read 3 books from the hospital library or cart they bring and I have no idea what they were , isn't that awful.... My son was diagnosed with lung cancer a few mnths ago and I am not doing well with that. Enough about me , please let me know you are alright.Take Care

Hi Dee: You and yours must be very strong people to be able
to always handle what fate sends your way. Better times must
be just around the corner. I hope that corner is just a few steps
    away.

Once again I am apologizing for being so slow in answering . I have been in and out of the hospital and in so much pain for the last several months I have not been able to sit to be on my computer. I am wondering how you are doing, I really hope you are well and I would like to wish you a Happy Mothers Day. I had a hip replacement which became infected and rsulted in having another surgery to clean it out. Luckily it did not get to the hardware so they didn't have to remove anything. Before I even finished the antibiotics for that I got another infection in my sinuses , I am still on antibiotics and still fighting all these infections. I haven't read much the pain makes it so hard to focus on anything. Enough about me. Thank you for always writing even when I don't it means a lot. thank you. Viccki

    Dee,
Sorry I was so long in responding, work has been crazy, hope things are getting better, I read Impact and really liked it, I'm still a bigger fan of their co-writings.
Right now I'm reading ON STRANGER TIDES by Tim Powers, read it back in 87, but after reading PIRATE LATITUDES by Michael Chrichton I was in the mood for more.
I hope you feel better soon, Take care,
    Robert

    Dee,
I hope all is well, it has been a while since we talked, I finished reading THE ALCHEMIST by Michael Scott, my oldest son gave it to when he finished, he would carry on for days about how good it was... well i gave in...what a wonderful litttle novel, very imaginative and extremely fast paced, I see you have read it as well, what was your take on the novel, I have started the second book already.

I enjoy listening to SK's Shopaholic books, etc. I like hearing the British accents.
I use my MP3 player about 4 mornings a week. I am a mall walker this time of the
year. The local mall opens its doors for walkers at 8 a.m. I don't get there until
    9ish, however.
