Happiest of New Years to ya!

Ya know how the present minute (oohps, there it goes) is constantly past you before ya can grab it? It's like watching scenery as you pass; you can easily see the oncoming trees and fields and things. Then it blurs (oohps, gone again) as it draws near and then (oohps, damn.sigh) here it comes (oohps, sigh)... more »

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year with Love, Peace, and Joy!

Here in Gresham, Oregon, Mother Nature let loose with a snow mostly ad ice rain storm with high winds that lasted on and off over a week...a record snow fall here on the valley floor. Around here, it snows in the mountains but rains in the valley. We had a bit of melt today, but we still have plenty of the white stuff left for a white Christmas and maybe even a white New Years! First time that I can remember. WOW!

Hope we can make it to my sister-in-law's house for Christmas. It's a toss-up. Her place is booted up against the hills, and so is colder than our place. Travel here has been pretty much paralyzed for about a week, and is just now starting to creep forward. So, we may have to put off our celebrtion for a while. But, it will happen. Besides, it isn't when you celebrate, it's that you do celebrate and recognize what it's all about...in my humble opinion.

So, you and yours have a great one! Stay safe and healthy!

I received my box of books yesterday and it was great. I felt just like a kid I couldn't wait to open it and I was very happy with all your selections. I do run all over the place with books. I think I will read the Allende's Golden Dragon first. Then Anne Rice's sister. I have only read Denseity of Souls by Christoper Rice and enjoyed it

Again Santa Debra you made me so happy Peace

Glad to hear that you are feeling better and going to brave the outside world again. I am married to a postman and the worst days at the Post office according to him are Mondays and Fridays( I think Saturdays would be bad because most people are off from work, but then who am I?!?! Just a non-postal employee with a thought. Hope you holidays are happy and healthy! Gayle

Thanks Debra for your thoughtfulness regarding helping me locate specific books and such. For now I have a few more to read before I acquire more. I am limiting myself on books as far as owning and numbers goes. Its one way I am letting go of some materialism I seem to have acquired. I look forward to traveling the road of bookland with you. Blessings

Hi, Debra! I hope you like the books that I mentioned. I notice that you rated "Fried Green Tomatoes" as one of your favorite books. I have that book on my reminder list at paperbackswap.com, but right now, I don't have the credits to get it...yet. So many books, so little time... (That saying with some cutesy art is on a totebag and I think a t-shirt at my library bookstore. LOL!)

I hope that you have a wonderful, Happy Thanksgiving!

We like 'Fried Green Tomatoes' too ("Towanda!"), but haven't seen it in a long time. Our favorites are 'Duets', 'Shag the Movie' and 'Sixteen Candles.'

Hi Debra! I hope you and your mom have a terrific time on your birthday. It sounds like so much fun! My mom and I usually watch movies when we are together. I will definitely check out DomiKNITrix! I tried learning how to knit with a book last year, but I didn't get too far. I forgot the name of the book, but it skipped a bunch of steps and expected you to know how to do different knots. I would love to make scarves and mittens.

I see your point about semantics. Off course that would follow individual languages' semantics. I find it wildly amusing, though, that there are dialects in signlanguage, like you describe :-) That's just too funny!
