I read every day, for a few hours if I can! I love to really get lost in a book, and a good read for me is one in which I feel that the characters have become my friends and acquaintances, who I will miss after I've read the last page. There's no better way to endure a cold Maine winter than to curl up in front of the fire with a good book, a purring cat, and a nice cup of tea.
My favorite genres are history, historical fiction, biography and memoirs. I sometimes stray into science, but as I am a scientist for a living, I tend to escape from science in my reading! I have started dabbling in thrillers/mysteries, and have recently overturned my aversion to serials. Some other vital stats:
