D. Byron Patterson is a visual artist, songwriter, fiction writer, web designer, vocal technician, musician, comedian, classically-trained actor (Shakespeare's Globe Theater in London, for starters) and the 1995 1st Runner-up National Karaoke Champion.
"Certain kinds of creative folk often drown themselves in an ocean of self-expression," Patterson says, pointing to himself with a smile. "I'm one of those people."
As Head of Creative Development at Love & Fleece, LLC, his sole focus is developing characters, designing toys and building worlds, as well as crafting original content for them all. Patterson says that his deeply personal professional mission was forged from his development of a sassy character named Lamby Lambpants, a plush toy lamb magically brought to life by the magic of a Chinese dragon pearl. Lamby wears cuffed blue pants and a water bottle-cap eye patch (covering what was eaten by the family dog). Although blind and somewhat deformed, he lives boldly, honestly and fearlessly. He has the ability to bring other wounded, broken or abandoned toys to life and his mantra is simple: Spread the Happy, Not the Cranky.
Little Tiger, Orphan King and Lamby's Soulmate. "Creating Lamby's world -- including the myriad drawings, music, poems, short stories, fables, fairy tales, songs and parodies -- from the ground up reconnected me to my storytelling roots," Patterson says. "Without Lamby, there would be no Little Tiger and the Year of the Dragon, whose themes come from that shared human collective space. Revealing what's already there is as important as producing the end results. I've taken my artistic talents and put them to work in creating a spiritually-positive vision for young and old alike. Lamby and Little Tiger both embody the potential in us all, that we can live a meaningful life if we can just find the courage to be ourselves. I'm tired of honesty and self-reliance being dirty words."
D. Byron Patterson is married and lives in Tarpon Springs, Florida, with his wife and brilliant business partner, Tina.
