Books inspire me to make important decisions in my life and have introduced me to wonderful friends. My favorite literature is that from France and Russia. I love the Modernists too. Working on my Bachelor's degree in English lit right now, moving to graduate studies soon. The world of literature opens every door!

I am finding this fun. My shelf is not done, but I will continue to work on it. I just finished uploading this photo. It was taken in Montana, when Angelo and I were on our way to Glacier National Park. I have so many great pictures from our trip that I wanted to possibly use, but shelfari will only upload pictures that are 2 megabytes or less, and most of the best ones are more, so I am left with this one.
Talking to you the other day reminded me of just how much of ourselves we have shared over the years. I feel as though we still really know each other quite well, despite not having much contact over the last 6-8 months. I get very excited and inspired about everything after I talk to you. You really uplift me! You seem to understand me better than anyone else I know or encounter. Oh, I just noticed that this will be public domain. Well, I will email when I can.

Hi Dawn - This is really fun. Portable Childhoods is a collection of short stories. I loved the book. As I was reading it, I kept having these impulses to dog-ear pages or write on sticky notes to give you little clues about why I liked each one. Alas, I was usually bumping along on the train. Many of her stories end with a fantastical twist, fun surprises. One of my favorites, though, is purely real. She writes about her daughter, to whom she refers, lovingly,as "the child" . It's wonderful. I'll try to get a picture of me soon. I'm not so fond of the white mummy with my name under it.

Well, I poked around the house and found a few of the books I've read over the past few years. Pathetically few, however, all of them so good, so memorable. Am reading on the train commute again - MY fifteen minutes. I look longingly, yet satisfyingly, at the stack by my bed. I know there's more good stuff waiting.

Ha. I figured this much out! How fun!! The comments you posted are themselves inspiring. I love books but tend to deny myself good adult literature during the school year. Thanks for inviting me to this site, and I will visit as often as possible.

Dawn, if you are into African American fiction read Richard Wright's Black Boy. It is a powerful book.

Hi Dawn! Thanks for your kind comments! I somehow missed your note on my page since I wasn't in for a while. Please stop by to say hi the next time you are in the library. I loved your comment about reading to be inspired. I have to admit that recently I have read for comfort, but usually it is to expand my viewpoint and knowledge -- and sometmes to give myself good talking points politically! :-) I never know when to mention religion, so thank you very much for the positive comments.
