Dawn

On a fateful day in 2006, I was downsized into retirement. Panicked, I withdrew into the land of historical romance where I joyously reside, endlessly 18 with a curvaceous body and waist-length hair.

Thanks for the suggestion... Heartstrings sounds funny. 'Although disqualified from siring his employer's child because of his apparent lack of intelligence[...]'

I like romances with humour too, the really obvious wacky kind. Like that of Janet Evanovich, Katie MacAlister and Mary Janice Davidson. I like it better when they have switching point of views, like with Evanovich's 'Foul Play' where the hero wonders if he's balding and no one's told him.

Currently I'm reading 'The Love Potion' by Sandra Hill [thanks for the author suggestions =D]... boinking hamsters haha.

I can understand the feeling on not being drawn to the next in the series, I felt like that but for me it was just good enough for me to say "well I have nothing else to read so I might as well" The 4th - Kiss of the highlander was the best of the series (it is the only one I bought). So I guess it is hit a miss with the books for both erotic and non-erotic. Here's to finding some good books in both categories for us :)

I was going ask how you thought they classified the erotic novels - the ones I read have 1 or 2 sex scenes... but lately the ones I have been choosing have had way more - sometimes a whole 1/3 of the novel.. would this be considered erotic? I have to say I tend to get bored with too much sex (much to my husband's dismay) hee hee just kidding there... but reading, I find it too repetitive. I am all for the chase and tension.. Have you read the highlander series by Karen marie Moning? Those were time travel and done well.. I just read kiss of the highlander for the 2nd time and laughed and cried for the 2nd time.. it was soo good!

I see you rated A knight in Shining Armour - I loved that book it made me cry at the end. I think it might have been one of the first time travels I had read. I think she did it rather well. Is there any books that have made you cry... in a happy way I mean?

Dawn, I'm so sorry - this isn't working at all; where the bracket is should be a different symbol altogether, and every time I post this, that symbol changes to a bracket. It's all wrong. Maybe it's for nothing, too - if you haven't XP then it won't work. So maybe I'll wait and see if that's what you use - please send me a note. I'll see if there's any way I can get this info to you after that.

For historical romance, I like Julia Quinn, Julie Garwood, Lisa Kleypas and older Pamela Morsi titles. I haven't tried Janet Chapman yet but I have some of her books in my to-be-read pile. I've read a few Lynsay Sands and Sandra Hill books and enjoyed them too. Outside of historical romance, my other favorites are J.D. Robb, Jeaniene Frost, Karen Robards, Karin Slaughter, Nora Roberts, Kelley Armstrong, Jim Butcher...and many, many more. I guess right now I'm really into Urban Fantasy books, but I read a little of everything so I don't get bored.

I love your profile notes! Retirement isn't too bad, right? All that time to do what one likes, as long as $$ and health are there. Also love your avatar - as many do. What fantasies that brings!!! Do you really winter in Arizona? Wonderful, if you do.

Thank you for the request... I must check out your shelf. I've been sliding into one of those slumps, I've been reading short harlequins to kinda hopefully get past it. Last time I was in a slump I stopped reading for a year or so!

Any recommendations? I'm one of those sickening hopeless romantics. Don't like infidelity in stories or second chances cause they tend to have the heroine almost subconsciously 'saving herself' while the hero whores around. Double standards. Pah. I don't like it when the hero fights it till the last few pages too. That tends to annoy me. =]
