I am bitter, cynical, and in my early 30's. I have a strong background in biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering. I hold a fair amount of knowledge in a number of areas including Western and Eastern history, philosophy, anthropology, and psychology. This makes me extremely picky about my non-fiction. I enjoy dark fantasy written by classicists and science fiction written by engineers. My favorite authors know that traditional faery tales don't usually have happy endings and they have a concept of romance that has developed since they were 14. I make a clear distinction between quality of craft and personal enjoyment. Many great works require special effort to appreciate. At times, it is nice to put your feet up and relax with something trashy. « less
