I continually evolve (or devolve) in my reading, pursuing various genres until I burn myself out. Modern biographies, Indian fiction (hard to burn out here), war histories, philosophy, and so on. Right now I'm a father of three and a hard-working member of the Shelfari team, so I find I have to make time to read here and there. But I do love... more »

The hardest part of reading this book is the inevitability of awful future events. You just see it coming. That said, the constant unfortunate nature propels the story, and while it's not fine work of fiction, I think it's a fun, fast read.

Fun insider information on the Big Man, including what the elves do in the off season and the best recipe to make for Santa's cookies.

A must read for those in the tech corporate world. I felt like i had already met the characters before in real life. From "who get's Tom's chair when he's let go?" to office romance, it has it all. And it's fairly well written. I enjoyed it.

You can't trust autobiographies. This provides a far clearer window into Twain...

This was the first sci fi novel I ever read. Well, to be clear it was read to me by my 3rd grade teacher Mr. O'Neill. My memories are vivid of gathering around his chair with the other kids in a darkened room each day after lunch as he told us of sand worms, spice, and destiny.

I don't suppose I'll be re-reading this work, but it certainly has its place in my life and in my memories.

One of the more impacting books on my life. David Norton's philosophical look at ethics through Greek notions of living a eudaemonic life (in sync with the underlying being who we are meant to be) and his approach to life-stage progression provide a beautiful canvas on which to discuss ethics. [br/][br/]It sits proudly on my shelf, and I share it with those who take an interest. Give it a try!
