Besides that, I am an avid reader and writer and occasional film and book critic.

I don't know you, but i saw some books on your shelfari and thought they were pretty interesting. Got any recommendations of some good books to add to my "plan on reading list"?

Hey, I didn't realize you'd been on so recently. I wrote to Shelfari to ask them if they'd make me an admin on the Hemingway group to monitor spam. They put me up there. Hope you don't mind?

Someone posted a spam post on the Hemingway group. If you get on here again, would you delete it?

I just returned from a trip to Spain which included a visit to Hemingway's stomping ground Pamplona. After seeing the bull ring, his beloved Iruna Bar where he drank and drank and drank and the hotel where he stayed, I need to re read The Sun Also Rises.

Ever read the Undefeated by Hemingway. Manuel is the classic Hemingway hero. I made some notes on it in the Hemingway group.

I love Michael Reynolds' bios of Hemingway--I've read a few, but his, to me, are the best!

My favorite is The Sun Also Rises, and The Garden of Eden joined the ranks when I read it this summer. Some of the, I thought, revolutionary themes in that novel really hit home for me. I'll explain in a private note if you'd like. Ironically, the first three Hemingway books I ever read were The Sun Also Rises, The Old Man & the Sea, and For Whom The Bell Tolls. And I hated Hemingway. I didn't necessarily hate the books, but I was like... who IS this guy? Anyway, in highschool we were given an author project. We had to write a large report and fill an hour with a presentation. I chose Hemingway because I thought i could do a good critical analysis and I fell in love. I tend to love the dead guys.

One other thing, I got into an arguement years ago with someone who said that For Whom The Bell Tolls was a love story. I argued against it, saying that there was a relationship in the book, but that the defining factor of the book was not that it was a 'love story'. I have to re read it, I don't remember much about it anymore except that I always wanted to just chop my hair off the way she does and have a long lean tan body and go around saying MUCK forever, but what do you think?

Looks like we have read a lot of the same authors: Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Kerouac, Faulkner, etc. Do you have a favorite?

Great profile and interesting shelf; any shelf that has only two books on it that I have read is a mystery! I'll have to look into some of those.
