My absolute most favorite past time is reading. I fell in love with reading as a young child. I remember reading the Berenstein Bears, The Cat in The Hat and my most favorite book as a child, was Mother Goose. I recall reading my Mother Goose nursery rhymes book from front to back almost every single day. My favorite nursery rhyme was Georgie Porgie.
As adolescence approached, I began reading The Sweet Valley Twins and later The Babysitter's club. Around the age of 13, I started going to the public library with a friend. We would spend countless hours perusing the books and would come home with a stack of books to read after every trip. It was at that time, that my interest in the horror/suspense genre began.
My very first horror book was by R. L. Stine. I read all of his books I could get my hands on. Soon my choices became depleted and so I moved on to reading books by John Saul.
I didn't just stick to the horror/suspense genre though. If a book struck my interest, I definitely read it! I adored English Literature class in high school. I looked forward to reading books like The Lord of the Flies, Animal Farm, plays like Romeo and Juliet or All of My Sons. I also loved reading stories about Greek Mythology.
My favorite author to date is Dean Koontz (as my bookshelf suggests). At one time, I was reading a lot of Robin Cook, but I have not read a novel by him in years. I look at the bestsellers list and read many other books in many other genres. I can spend countless hours in a book store or library. There is something about books that just bring a sense of calmness to me. This is comes down to one very simple thing .... I LOVE books.
