I'm also a budding Sci-Fi/Fantasy writer who would love to have a full-time writing career someday. I'm currently working on co-authoring my first fantasy novel, and putting together various short stories for the Writers of the Future contest every quarter. Always looking for a good book. Always looking to make contacts.
I rate the books on my shelf accordingly:
1 Star -- Poor overall. Bad story/plot and bad writing
2 Stars-- Not recommended. Either poor story, or writing poor enough that it dissuaded me from reading
3 Stars-- Mid-line, mediocre. Decent story and decent writing. Worth reading but probably not twice
4 Stars-- Really good. Either great story and decent writing or vice-versa. Enjoy reading it.
5 Stars-- Excellent. Amazing story complemented by great writing. These are the books I loved.
Occasionally, I'll put a review up on a book, especially if there's something that was out of the ordinary or if it didn't really fit in with my rating system. Happy reading.
