I'm daimira, mad scientist and voracious devourer and hoarder of books. My TBR pile is not so much a pile as it is a mound that would require a shovel to dig through. Aside from books, I also love music, animation, writing, and art.
My reading history is sort of backwards: I started out with Classical Literature as a child (albeit the lighter ones from authors including Jane Austen, Louisa May Alcott, and Lewis Carroll). Eventually, I wandered into the genre romance novels, followed by fantasy novels, and then off to the opposite end of contemporary literature (the weirder/ more philosophical, the better), enjoying authors like Umberto Eco, Jostein Gaarder, Haruki Murakami, and Chuck Palahniuk.
I'm more of a gourmand than a gourmet in a sense, I suppose -- in that I will eat/read nearly anything. But just because I read it doesn't mean I enjoy it. I occasionally find myself hunting for horrible books on purpose, just to find something to snark about. Fortunately, there's always Terry Goodkind and Anne Rice for me to fall back on when I am disappointed by the absence of, er, a lack in quality in books. Both authors never fail to make me laugh hysterically. NOT in a good way.
