“It pains me to rate this book so low; but SERIOUSLY CHARLAINE?!?! This is the grande finale; the end to my favorite series?!? I mean like how many fucking naps did Sookie and Amelia have to take, and why did we have to read about them in grave detail? Do I need to repeatedly read about her cooking breakfast, mowing the lawn or sun bathing? I think not! Its book THIRTEEN, I think we can skip the intricate and repetitive descriptions of every day mundane tasks/activitied. And what happened to our favorite vamps and weres; it was almost like the main characters became guest stars with "cameos." Kind of like she replaced them with the not so important secondary characters. Of course she had to break our hearts and dissolve the (SPOILER ALERT) viking/Sookie romance (we all saw it coming), but the scene was so poorly executed that it didn't even evoke much emotion.
The plot was kind of dumb in my opinion; like when is someone NOT trying to kill Sookie? And I was a bit disappointed because this is the first time she didn't go all "detective" and try and solve things on her own; she kind of just let everybody else take care of it for her. Sookie was like my favorite protag/heroin; what happened to her?
On the bright side, Sookie is still hilarious, and it was obvious that Charlaine was trying to put an end to everyone's stories. At least we've still got True Blood!”
