Yeah, The Host was good. I'm not much into Sci-Fi genre, but this was a great twist on it. It's definitely worth reading, and I'm anxious to see if she follows it up with more. I'm reading The Scarlet Pimpernel right now. It was recommended to me, and I'm actually enjoying it more than I thought I would. I'm hurrying to finish, so that I can read Breaking Dawn when it comes out. I want to read it right away...before I run across any spoilers. :)

I moved on to (and have just finished this morning) The Overlook by Michael Connelly, another great book in the Harry Bosch series.

Now I have to decide what to read next!

It sure was bad. I nearly didn't finish it, but just managed to scrape through in the end!

Never seen The Future of Food, have to check it out some time.

Have just finished The Unquiet by John Connolly (which was ok) and The Quickie by James Patterson, which was terrible.

Haven't decided what to read next, will make up my mind at bedtime!

    Hi there,

    Haven't chatted for a while.

How's your summer going so far? Read any good books recently?

There are 20 people in the Laurie Notaro group now! This is great. Thanks for being so active in it. Glad you are enjoying her book. I can't wait to read her new one. I have it here (AUTOGRAPHED) but still need to read it. It is on the list (at the top, of course). Mia

My organization wants to increase seniors choices of having more to do other than watching TV. You can check out the site at www.hoelb.org. Buying seniors new tv's is not our primary goal. We'd use our resources for something more substantive like food, or some other necessity. I do understand your concern, but I'm pretty sure, since seniors were able to switch from black and white to color, then from having to get up and turn the channel to getting a tv with a remote control; I'm pretty sure this switch won't be that difficult or burdensome on them.

I never read Mermaid Chair. Actually, I think I tried to once but I couldn't get into it either. I'll have to check out those books you and Brenda are talking about. You got censored? LOL! That's crazy!!

Oh, and yes, it was the new Weisberger book I was asking you about before...Harry Winston one. I read a couple of her other books and was just curious about this one.

Hi, I haven't read the series yet, but I have them on my "to read" list. I'm anxious to read them. I've had quite a few people give positive feedback on them. I didn't realize they were going to be made into a show for HBO. Did you ever finish all the Twilight series? If so, how were they?

Have you read The Host? If you liked the Twilight series (or were a little disapointed in them) you should definately read this book, it's so much better than the Twilight books.

Hi! Have you read the new Lauren Weisberger yet? I haven't seen any review posts on it yet, and I trusted your opinion on it.

How is American Jihad? You're reading that one now? Sounds very controversial. Just wanted to say hi and Happy 4th. Thanks for getting people to join the Laurie Notaro group.

Hey tatortot, Islam is really fasinating. A lot of it makes really good sense. The parts that don't are because people are extreme or are making their own laws and rules, not God's (Allah's). I'm so glad you picked up the Idiot girls book. Excellent choice. You can post whatever you want about it in group! Talk to you later, Mia

So I saw your post on July Movies and I laughed. I cheated and watched No Reservations and I struggled. What is it you don't like about it? I think Catherine Zeta Jones is soooooo overated. Maybe she's more suited for the stage or something. Even if Spitfire doesn't win, I hope you check it out. OJ

I noticed you added some books on radical Islam. I have studied Islam a lot. The more peaceful side (yes there is one even though a lot of people don't think so).
