Check out the best books I've read lately: http://crunchygods.blogspot.com/
I've read all the books on my "Read" shelf, and I plan to read all the books on my "Plan to Read" shelf, if I live long enough! I love fiction that expresses the overwhelming beauty and sadness of the world, and if it makes me laugh out loud, that's a bonus. I like to feel that, as weird or terrible as things get in the story, the author generally believes in people and would be a good lunch date. I like nonfiction that makes me say, "Wow," every few pages, and reminds me of the interconnectivity of things. I love to find out how things got to be the way the are: languages, music, art, human society, the evolutionary tree, the planet itself. And there is something so hopeful to me about shelves full of books: they represent so many hours, months, years of people working to communicate ideas, to open minds, to break hearts and put them together again. To all those wonderful authors, I say, thank you, and keep writing!
