I read all the time - and if there is no book at hand, I read the back of cereal boxes. I even read the manuals for new electronics. My reading is based entirely on what I enjoy and not at all on what I think I "should" read. Nothing beats a new book and a cup of tea, unless it is a new book, a cup of tea and a puppy on your lap. Judith I just finished a book you would enjoy, Deep Economy by Bill McKibben. He explains possibilities for local community restructuring that are beginning to emerge that will save the planet. He is a journalist, so frank, fact based, but also funny.
Thanks for the Graceful Exits recommendation - a topic dear to my heart!

Hey Judith, so nice to see a note from you. I want to sit down and type out a more thoughtful response to your question about Barara Sher. I am having some physical difficulties righ tnow and it's limiting my time on the computer. Anyways, short answer, I made a Creativity Journal fo rmyself. Bought a very pretty fantasy notebook with fancy pen and started a kind of scrapbook jounral for all my creative ideas. It was mostly for my house and it has been very helpful. I truly do beleive in the idea of writing it odwna nd making it happen. I can't say as I have done all the exercises in the book. I have several books going at once and the same issues that interfere with my comp time affect my reading too. LOL Gosh, I wish shelfar had a blog attached...it would be fun to elaborate more on what we've read than just write a review...anywyas, better go and I will send you a pm ASAP. Thanks again, shell

    Hi Judith,
I did read Eat Pray Love. It was better than I expected. Her feelings, though not necessary life experience, is so universal, I believe a lot of women can identify with her. Made me want to go travel. Then my laziness took over and I sank back into my chair.

    Hi! Judith,
How I rate my books?.. you wanted to know...Well I do it exactly like you are doing....:)
The books I enjoyed reading are a 3 stars....books that are classics are 4 stars. The unforgettables, the ones that touches your heart and soul get 5 stars.
All books on my shelf are minimum 3 stars because I have not added the ones I didn't like...so there are no 1 and 2 star books on my shelf....:)

    Happy Reading!

Mingyur Rinpoche - I will cerdtainly look into this, with great interest! I tend to respect all Rinpoche! Switzerland is lovely, it turns out: I am currently on my first visit here. Clean, polite, multi-lingual and quite cosmopolitan. The good is very good, and everything is on time. Alas, as expensive as London. He in the Winterthur, 15 mins from Zurich airport, they say one is never more than seven minutes from the woods, and it does eem to be true: there are tres, parks, and cycle-lanes everywhere. I think you could be very happy here!

Thank you for your response to my posting. I see from your other posts you are quite knowledgable. Yes, I am actually quite happy to find something spiritual that does not require the worship of some divinity. I assume many ppl mistakenly beleive that The Buddha is worshipped. My understanding is that he is revered and respected, but not like one would worship a God of Son of God.

I am very attracted to the concepts of Zen and hope to better udnerstand them and fully embrace a formal practice of some sort. Somebody posted znecast.org and I am currently downloading the podcasts from there. My disabilities make it difficult to read sometimes and lsitening to podcasts is enjoyable and enlightening.

    Again, thank you very much.

    Peace Be With You,
    Shell

Thanks for the Sangha tips! I replied on the list but forgot to thank you too for the notice of His Holiness The Dalia Lama's visit to London. I am desperate to hear the man in person, and was on the pre-announcement list as soon as it opened: I got the notice of the date the same day as we decided to move to Hungary. I'll miss the event by a month! I imagine he will visit Budapest, one day, where he will speak Tibetan, which will be translated into Hungarian.... Guess I'm just going to have to head on out to india, with two-year old and wife in tow..!
