I am a 30 something LPN, and I LOVE animals. I have a parrot, a catahoula cur, an iguana, 5 ferrets, a ball python, 2 guinea pigs, and a leopard gecko.

I love the water. I could park it next to the water or in the water and read all day. I could seriously live in a boat or something as long as I had my animals.

Someone recommended this book to me a few years back and I did read it back then. I didn't get what the big deal was about this book at all.

3.5 stars. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's love story is just inspiring to me. I first heard about them when I rented the movie "The Young Victoria." It said that movie was based on the Queen's actual journals. I set out to find a book where I could read the Queen's own words about her and Prince Albert's life and thus found this book. I also quite enjoyed the entries about her children and the letters written to her children. My only complaint was that I wish the book was entirely chronological as opposed to being arranged in chapters. Those chapters were chronological, but then the next chapter would jump back a few years that I had already read in the previous chapter, so it would get a bit confusing. I entered quite a few quotations from the book on the detials page that I thought were so thought provoking and poignant.

This was pretty boring. It only got a little good towards the end.

I was surprised at how much I really enjoyed this book. My only complaint was the details the author went into. There was so much detail, that this could have been a survivor's manual if you are ever marooned on a deserted island. I skimmed over a lot of these parts. Other than that the story itself was quite good! This book was filled with incredible facts. The knowledge the author must have had to write this book or either the depth of research he did back then for his time was astonishing. The characters were very endearing. Would that we could all have attitudes like these men when life's adversities hit. This book touched on just about every emotion I had. As it neared the end and the mystery was about to reveal itself, I was on pins and needles and couldn't wait to finish.

Just 4 stars this time instead of 4.5. I found this book took awhile to get going. Nothing really happened until halfway into the book. The author spent a lot of time telling what happened in previous books. I understand this is necessary for those who haven't read the previous books, but I wish the action had started a little sooner.

I really struggled to get through this book. I really liked book one. I still liked the basic story of this one (book 2), but I found there were too many things going on that really didn't have a lot to do with the basic story and that were just plain boring. After page 600 I skimmed a lot of it. I wish I could have given it 2.5 stars. I was going to give it 2 but bumped it up to 3 because I really liked the ending. I don't think I am going to read the rest of the series.

I LOVED this movie. I was a bit disappointed in the book. There was a lot of ramblings throughout which sometimes could be amusing, but after awhile it got old. I really like all of Jane Austen's books when they are made into a movie, but if all her books are like this, I think I will stick to watching the films. It wasn't a bad book. It had parts I liked. I will give another one of her books a try.

2.5 stars. I wanted to read this because it was the follow-up to the story of "Island of the Blue Dolphins." I thought Karana, who was the main character of that book, would be more throughout this book. She was really only a very small part of the story. This is really a coming of age story of Zia. It had some ok parts but most of it was pretty dull. It was leagues away from "Island of the Blue Dolphins," which is one of my favorite books.
