After admitting to myself that I might have ADHD—this is why I don’t do fiction because I lose track of who’s who and who’s done what—I’ve started to listen to authors of non-fiction variety talk about their books and information on online vids. We both must pray to not go deaf. ☺
Oh dear, didn't think people would notice that much. Just been busy really - but I have quite a few films I would like to write something about. Problem is if I want to write more than just a number, I need a few moments to put it down. And those moments have been way too rare lately. Hope all is well with you cris!
Sent you an email, I might show up as S Abdulla
My first name is Sana, pleased to meet you
If you’d like to post me you can. I honestly couldn’t figure out how to reply profile post to you the last time. It had been a while since I posted anyone and things changed because more things have been added. I tend to delete my posts after reading, so please don’t be offended.
Graceland is a gloomy book, but quite captivating, sometimes things happen suddenly without buildup but it is a good book, lots of characters and happenings but it is quite tragic.
Sorry...I use the ratings to sort my To-be-read pile ... most I don't put stars on,
but some I give a 1 or 2 to put it on top...sorry if it confused you. Believe me you're
not the first. Just have a knack for finding additional ways to use a system
Have a great read!
I didn't know you were consuming the books!!
The second book was kind of a letdown for me. I really liked the first one, though.
The next in the series is not as good as the first.
Chris, let me know what you think of 'I Am Not a Serial Killer'. I thought it was pretty amusing.
I'm so sorry I only saw this now, thank you very much for your offer, if I really need to see a film I watch it on the PC's small screen :(
Nudity is not really the issue but I object to having someone deciding I shouldn't watch anything that even insinuates sexual activity, sometimes the scenes don't even have nudity. the films are rated and we pay to see them so we should see them whole. we do miss out on some excellent movies because of that e.g Black Swan, The people versus Larry Flint.
I think films by post are also screened. thanks a lot.
You're right, it's a bit hazy for me since I haven't seen it since it was showing in cinemas. But what I meant was more that she was guilty of being coward than the crime itself, and although I still think the larger guilt must be bestowed upon the one committing the crime, the consequences of her cowardry are as horrible.
Hi cris, glad you accepted to become my "Friend", we have communicated enough to motivate it anyway. So yes, I think the implicit guilt of the mother is something I took away as well, it is an aspect that is commonly forgotten in cases of incest: is it really reasonable to believe that other members of the family didn't notice anything ? It is also touched upon in Dogtooth, if you have seen that one (more surrealistic, but still).
Take care, Jonas
Sean is reading it to me, got book four waiting on my kindle.
Enjoying it so far Cris, hadn't realised they were set in the 50s. Place spotting and recognising some real establishments he's changed the names of, e.g. For Horsehead Bar read Horseshoe Bar which still exists and my mother could have been the clippie who berated him when he jumped off a moving tram :)
Thanks for the request to follow. What possessed you to want to follow me? (I usually ask people that when they make a request.)
Sorry, the rating was from friends who gave it 2 stars but it was one of the few books I gave up reading.
I don't think we are that different in the books that we have read. I have read several of the books and/or authors you have on your shelf. I do tend to watch a lot of films and am not that picky about what I watch since I am only giving up a couple hours on them but I am pickier with the books I read since I spend more time with them. I see you gave 2 stars to Jonathon Strange and Mr. Norrell. I read the first hundred pages of that book before I decided to stop torturing myself and give up on that it.
Cris, You beat me to this one. I read the first three and I'm waiting to get the fourth. Let me know if it's worth buying. Have a great day. Thanks...
