one ordinary day

I'm a stay-at-home mom of two beautiful kids. Reading is a passion for me and I do it every chance I get. I also love baking and have recently gotten interested in food photography. I blog at http://oneordinaryday.wordpress.com/ . I scrapbook too, but haven't been at it nearly as much as I ought to be.

I keep a book journal of... more »

It looks like we have a lot in common. I stayed home with my kids until they were all in school and now I work in the high school library in their district. I love reading and scrapbooking but don't do it nearly as often as I'd like and I'm currently reading "The Whistling Season". What do you think of it. I'm kind of bored with it, yet for some reason I just need to keep reading.

    Hi M,
I'm feeling like you about _The Hunger Games_. I'm playing Lay It On at Play Book Tag. You should join me at that group. Keeps me busy. There a lot of books at Shades of Love, I want to check out, too.

Tell me about your babies. I love hearing about them and I know you son who correct me that he is no baby. lol Peace. ~z

    Hey M,
I'm good. My work schedule is odd. I don't have access like I used to. Glad to hear you and your little ones are well.

I see you added _The Skin Between Us_. Not surprised you plan to read it. I thought of you when I read it. It is honest, intimate, beautifully written. You'll want to take it in like a good meal: slowly, laughing and pausing for conversation, consciously aware of the good feeling of being among those you care about. Karen recommended it to me and sent me a copy for the library. It's currently displayed on our shelves. Thanks for writing. Peace. ~zawadi

Hi creativecarryout (for some reason typing the "carryout" made me hungry, but I digress). The books you mentioned by Anne Rice are incorrectly linked as editions of the same book, even though they're different titles. Our developers are working on fixing this issue so that you can add both to your shelf. Thanks for your patience! If you come across any other titles like this, let me know. Thanks! --Amanda

Hey cc, I've picked up _Money Hungry_ before but didn't get a chance to read it. Definitely will read both this summer and would love to have the donation. How are you beautiful children? I'll be shopping and trading this summer. Thanks for the heads up and always thinking about us. Peace. ~zawadi

Well my mom was a foster parent for 5 years so I had foster siblings and now I am completing my internship doing in home counseling with the Family Preservation team for Child Protective Services. I will be done with my Masters in Social Work this Aug, so after that then we will see what the future has for me.

The book Love in the Driest Season looks interesting too. My husband and I have talked about possibly adopting an older child from out of foster care, since I have experience with foster kids. Many of the children listed in AZ are mixed race so we may have a family that is very mixed when things are all said and done.

Thank you for your friendship request. I do love To Kill a Mockingbird, and have read it several times, though I do not make an annual visit to its pages. I did, however, under protest, pick as the one book I would save if I had to give up all others. Happy Reading.

phew, i finally finished Invisible Man :). Sorry I haven't been on shelfari in a long time. The book is definately a great book, but it is heavy and deep. We read it for our book group and I felt that maybe we should have broken it up and had several discussions on it. I definately recommend it but make sure your group is up for it! It is a long and very rich book.

Just posted a few titles of books that would appeal to Puerto Rican young readers. :) There isn't much, but it's out there and growing. Start with the work of Nicholasa Mohr.

Hi cc, I'm new to fantasy. Stardust is going okay. If she likes fantasy, she might enjoy this. Can you tell me other genres or themes she likes and then I can recommend something if I know the genre. Hope you and yours are well. Peace. ~zawadi
