Oh, where to start?I'm an avid reader with lots of other interests that both drive my interest in and are driven by books. When I started here, around five years ago, I began a group called Play Book Tag. Amazingly now, it is my most passionate hobby.I love literary fiction and memoirs. Each...

    Elizabeth Street

True story of Italian immigrants beginning at the turn of the 20th century, written by the great-granddaughter of a remarkable woman. This is the way I like to learn history with the help of Google.

    The Son

An exceptional story of several generations of a Texas family. Eli, the first white child born in the new Republic of Texas, is captured by Comanches at the age of 13. The book follows his adventures with them and then his later life as a Texas Ranger and then a cattleman. We also follow the...

An exceptional story of several generations of a Texas family. Eli, the first white child born in the new Republic of Texas, is captured by Comanches at the age of 13. The book follows his adventures with them and then his later life as a Texas Ranger and then a cattleman. We also follow the story of his son, Peter JA, Eli's great-granddaughter, a woman trying to prove herself in the oil business.
The scenes with the Comanche and then the Texas Rangers are the most exciting, but the story never lets up, keeping you involved throughout. Peter & JA's stories are not as exciting as Eli's, but they tell a fascinating story of how Texans dealt with hardships, both natural and manmade. Reminiscent of James Michener in scope, but Meyer is a better storyteller.

I'm a single working professional in the financial services field who just bought a Kindle for Mother's Day, 2012. I want to start reading more books because I'm a self-proclaimed movie junkie who frequently enjoys reading books that have been made into movies. Ever since being in journalism and...

    Someone Else's Love Story

Beautifully strange story of a young woman caught in someone else's love story. Wonderful, quirky characters that I rooted for throughout the book. Everyone of Joshilyn Jackson's books has been a winner and this is no exception!

    Shadow of Power

This is one of Steve Martini's better books. An author is murdered and a trial ensues. If you don't like fairly detailed trial enactments, this book is not for you. The victim wrote a book about the founding fathers and slavery. There is a fair amount of history which I knew but had long...

This is one of Steve Martini's better books. An author is murdered and a trial ensues. If you don't like fairly detailed trial enactments, this book is not for you. The victim wrote a book about the founding fathers and slavery. There is a fair amount of history which I knew but had long forgot. Riots follow the book and the trial. White Supremacists and Blacks clash.
