I am from southwest, La. I have a BA from Northwestern State University (in Natchitoches, La) and an MMC from the University of Florida, both in communications with a concentration in public relations. I spent a summer in Zambia (that's in Africa, I get that question a lot) working with Project Concern International creating written materials... more »

Thanks for letting me know how you liked it. If you feel that Night Garden was better then I will have to move it up on my list to read. :)

Hi there! So nice to see you back! I really liked Palimpsest. My son and I both read it so it made for good discussion. I enjoy novels that make me think and this one did. I have the Orphan Tales books on my tbr, I just haven't gotten to them yet. You'll have to let me know how you enjoy Palimpsest and if it is better than the Orphan Tales or vice versa. Maybe that will jump start me to getting to them sooner. :)

Ah, no worries! Yeah, if your reading is going slowly and you don't like to plan out what you're reading, you're probably better off to not worry about checking out the game. I'd be in there for sure, though, if I wasn't an admin! ;-)

Hi! I try to purge my groups at the end/beginning of each year as well, but I often end up keeping the busier groups because I usually enjoy them more! So, I'm not sure how much it really helps.

You're right - I loved the camaraderie when we played as Tome Taggers. Book Bingo was similar, because it was also a smaller group. The other group game I remember playing was for Last Tagger Standing. I didn't find it was quite the same because it was a larger group. For me, as an admin, I won't be able to play those games anymore, but I knew that when I accepted the shelving position.

Not sure if you saw the new game Anita just posted or not, but it's an individual game, so it won't quite be the same. It would help with your Trim the TBR, though, if you wanted to take a look and see what you think (unless you still think that might feel like pressure... but then, it might not, as it is an individual game).

Sending your request to follow me is the same as asking to be"friends" so I was able to send you an invite to tour 2012 book log group.

    Hello,
I was the adm. for the 2011 Book Log group that you participated in. I made a similar group for 2012, but it is by invite only. Since you are not one of my Shelfari "friends," I could not invite you. If you'd like to join the 2012 group, you need to ask to be my "friend" so that I can invite you.

hey! Thought I'd let you know that the thread is up to sign up to choose the next author... Not sure if you'll have enough time to read, so I don't know if you wanted to sign up or not, but in case you do.... you get a chance again!

    And happy birthday (again!). :-)

Were you able to mail The Eyre Affair yet? Anita wanted to know if I received it, so I just wanted to check with you first to see if it was on the way. Thanks! I hope you are doing well.

Wow! You do still sound really busy! Good luck with your meeting and interview! I'm sure you'll be able to really enjoy the group again once you have more time. You might even get to choose another author! ;-)

Here's something I forgot to ask. Do you remember where you left off with greeting new members? Or an approximation on how long ago that would have been? I'm happy to go back and get caught up on that. I told Sara to not worry about that for now, until we were caught up, and I would let her know the last person who got a greeting, so she knows where to continue from. Thanks!

So, I posted a question in the admins group about what happened. I guess the Demote and Remove buttons are side-by-side. I'm so sorry... I'm thinking I must have accidentally hit the remove. :-( I'm so so sorry... I feel terrible!

Ok, my apologies and this is stupid! I promoted Sara to admin of Author Author, then demoted you as an admin. I got a message asking if I wanted to remove you from the group, when I simply clicked Demote! I clicked yes, since all I really wanted to do (and all I thought I was doing) was demoting you as admin. But, I thought I'd better double check and I think it removed you from the group altogether. Stupid!!!! I'm so sorry, I will send you an invite to get you back. It wasn't supposed to do that... :-(

Hope things are going well for you. Hadn't seen you around much, and wondered how things were going. School is drawing to a close, and I couldn't be happier. It was a good year, good students, but I am pooped! My daughter graduates this week-end and I'm trying to get the family in gear to help out, as I can't take off of work to get things done. However, I am still managing to put in some serious book time. Hope you have a great summer!

Hi! It's me, just starting to do some shelving. I'll help catch up with some of the previous month's authors tonight. I probably won't do everything, but I wanted to at least help get everything caught up. :-)

Ok, I got sidetracked for far too long at BookMooch, so I'm signing off to go do some actual reading (without taking time to do any shelving...), so I promise I will help out next weekend. It's better anyway, since it's a long weekend, plus I have absolutely no plans (beyond a little bit of packing for a conference I have the following weekend).
