I am from southwest, La. I have a BA from Northwestern State University (in Natchitoches, La) and an MMC from the University of Florida, both in communications with a concentration in public relations. I spent a summer in Zambia (that's in Africa, I get that question a lot) working with Project Concern International creating written materials... more »

I am undecided on Neil gaiman. Which book of his would you reccommend for me to start on him?

Sure! It occurred to me after that I do have other Gaiman books on the tbr besides The Graveyard Book, too. I'm looking through my shelf and I've added Creatures of the Night (which my library doesn't even have!), and A Walking Tour of the Shambles. I know I wanted to read that story, too. Smoke and Mirrors. Of course, I don't recall what book that was in...

I'm so glad you like it! I was a little concerned you might already have something like it.

I checked at our Half Price Books and they only had books 3 & 4 of the Codex Alera in hardback. Sorry. Hopefully you can find them. I've no idea why they would be so difficult to get.

Yeah,Mike Nelson started his own website company (I can't remember what it was called) where they have a track to play with movies. They did it with the new Star Wars movies a few years back, but I kinda lost track of them after that. I was always more of a Joel Hodgson fan, Mike was ok, but the classics are mostly when Joel was the "host".

So there are some MST3K fans still out there! The glory days of Comedy Central right there (or I guess it was just The Comedy Channel back then) Too bad they have such a hard time finding funny stuff anymore.

Well, I'm not sure there's an official way to report this, but I did comment in the Shelfari Insiders group about it, so hopefully they'll look into it.

That's great, by the way, that Jamie wasn't upset with you. Or at least that he chose not to show it when you got home!

I'm not a massive crime/thriller fan either but I read Carlton Mellick's Menstruating Mall and he says it was as near his interpretation of the genre he would do and gave this And then there were none as his reference point.

Lenore is hit and miss, the collections are worth buying though as there are little moments of greatness. Some of Roman Dirge's other comics are better Cat With the really big head is hilarious.

I've no read Squee or I feel Sick yet but JTHM is cool have you ever seen the mini comic Jhonen Vasquez (under the name Mr Scolex) did with Crab Scrambly its called Everything can Be Beaten, its a tiny piece of awesome about smooshing kittens... it works in its own dark little way and I can't recommend it enough if you like Jhonen's other stuff.

Thought so! I just saw 1001 Nights in the bookstore yesterday. I am about to leave for bellydancing, so I'll see if I can contact the developers or at least figure out how to go about reporting editions that were "wrongly" combined later tonight or tomorrow. Thanks! (And good to know I can just pick it up and read it anytime...)

I just wanted to check with you (since I haven't read these ones yet). Volume 6 of Fables (Homelands) is not the same as 1001 Nights of Snowfall, is it? Where exactly does 1001 Nights fall?

I'm looking at this here on shelfari, and these have been combined into one edition. I suspect it's not right, and I'd like to contact the developers to let them know if it should be separated. But, since I haven't actually read them myself yet, I thought I'd confirm with someone who I know has read them! :-) Thanks!

i'll be interested to hear how you find AND THEN THERE WERE NONE. I just read a story with points and homages to it and haven't yet read it.

I figured that was why there wasn't one big book of all the Fables stories. Maybe when they finish it? It's one I keep recommending to people, so if I had it, I could lend it out. And I'm thinking, since it's a graphic novel and it's so fast to read, it might be one I'd consider rereading.

The shopping, I was surprised it was kind of fun. But then, usually I'm shopping alone and that's never as much fun. I was with my friend Nancy, so that helped, I think. I just wish I had more places to wear the dress, though! Or even a place! ;-)

I took at look at some of the graphic novels in a bookstore today while I was out shopping (take a look at the link I posted on facebook - I bought a new dress and I posted a link to a picture of it). I kind of wish Fables was out as one volume. I might actually buy it if it was. As it is, though, I don't want to buy each individual volume, though. :-(
