Reading challenges me and makes me think in ways that I never knew were possible. I love to read fun, entertaining, or adventurous books, but the best books are the ones that leave me in a stupor of confusion and/or wonder. I want to finish the book feeling like I was a character in it.

Because of your recommendation, I bought all three Updike "Rabbit" books at a library sale a few weeks ago. I can't wait to read them. I hear there's a fourth, yes? Have you read that one?

Books on your "plan to read" list that are on my "owned" list: "A Tale of Two Cities", "East of Eden", "I am Charlotte Simmons", and "Me Talk Pretty One Day" (although I technically borrowed that one from someone else. Books I have that I would strongly recommend: "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln" by Doris Kearns Goodwin, "Freakanomics" by Steven Levitt, "A Life in the Struggle: Ivory Perry and the Culture of Opposition" by George Lipsitz, "Disgrace" by J. M. Coatzee, "Middlesex" by Jeffrey Eugenides, "The Trap" by Tabitha King, "1984" by George Orwell, "Freedomland" by Richard Price, "Samaritan" by Richard Price, all the Harry Potter books, and "Eats Shoots and Leaves" by Lynne Truss. Please don't hesitate to borrow any of these whenever you feel like reading one of them.

That's OK. You'll probably beat me. I get distracted easily.
