I'm a casino dealer, have been one for over 10 years now. I love to read, as seen by my bookshelf, paranormals. If it has vampires, werewolves, zombies, spirits, etc., then I'm more than likely reading it. Glad to have found Shelfari and all the people I have met so far.

Happy Reading

Loved it. Eve is becoming my favorite author with the stories she writes. I must admit, I was leery of this book at first. A young woman who hears voice and is in an institution and the vampire who feeds off the people there for variety. Nah, this wasn't for me, until Fictionwise had a coupon and I decided to try the book. I was not disappointed. The characters were engaging and the storyline kept you dying to turn to the next page to see what happened next.

If you are looking for an ebook that is not all about sexing the hero and heroine up, then this is the book you are looking for. It has an hero who knows that what he wants and does is against the laws of his people, but the emotions he feels for Abby cannot be denied. Add in the fact that he is willing to give up his heritage to be with the one woman who completes him, makes this an excellent love story.

The premise sounded like it should have been an interesting read, but the execution was terrible. The storyline had no flow in the action and there were times where I got lost because the author jumped to another section of the story without prepping the reader first. I hope for a more continuous and flowing storyline from this author for her next book.

  • The Warder's Djinn - book 1
    • Rated 5 stars

This is the first book in the series about a family of magical infused humans who have been under a curse for several centuries. They must mate and marry other non human beings and this is the tale of the Djinn. Arov has been in service to one of the Warders because he tried to kill the man. Albina is the last of the last and the current possessor of the Djinn. This was a wonderfully told story of a death, malice, love and revenge. The next book in the series is about a dragon. Can't wait to find out what happens next.

This is a quick little read about Sugar and her bunch of geeky neighbors who just happen to be werewolves. The leader of this pack of nerds has been challenged by the Alpha of the city's wolves and he needs someone to train him on how to fight. That is when they hire the services of a vampire who develops a sweet tooth and Sugar is the cure. Without giving away the storyline, Sugar wants a normal life even though she is friends with a ragtag group of wolves. But the addition of the vampire trainer is too much for Sugar. Basically, you must take the good with the bad if you want to love for a lifetime.

If you have read The Mane Squeeze, then you would have remembered Gwen's friend Blayne, the wolfdog. The same wolfdog who takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin', from the Roller Babes derby team. Well, is this story Blayne has been targeted by a group of humans who kidnap, train, and kill hybrids like Blayne. Those who are part wolf, and part something else for their entertainment. Blayne is under the protection of the Van Holts, and has the eye of a bear cat by the name of Bo Novikov. Who she met years ago, but she ran away from him thinking he was crazy and a killer. Well, now Bo is back to find out what has happened to the little wolf dog he remembers from back in the day. This book has surly wolves, curious bears, nice wolf dogs, and a demented cat. So, if you have not read one of Ms. Laurenston's books, then you are in for a treat with this one.

I was going to give this book a 4 star rating, but when I think about Logan it needed 5 stars. Logan is a big bad vampire lord who is a lieutenant of the Ancient One who has been sent to set up a security system for the Blood Center. Liese is a computer geek who is trying to regain control over her life after a bad breakup from her cheating, stealing ex-fiance. She has a mother with cancer who is taking treatments in Chicago and she needs her job at the Blood Center for the insurance. So, you can imagine her getting upset when Logan comes in to disrupt her workplace and threaten her job. But what she doesn't know is that there is more to the Blood Center that meets the eye and the Logan is more than just the CEO of a major security firm. Once again, Ms. Hughes has delivered a remarkable vampire tale that featured characters from her other stories in the series. I hope that she will eventually have a story for the Ancient One who is always heard from, but never seen.

This is the first book in the dragon series that stars a young woman with some special powers. Powers that she doesn't know about or receive until the death of her beloved grandmother. The story starts off a little slow, but the author gives you a wonderful background information on the heroine that lures you into the book. Once you meet the black dragon and get the lowdown on the head witch is when the action picks up and you get to learn more about this dynamic group of individuals. And, the author sets up the second book by giving you a glimpse of the black dragon and the witch who has stolen a piece of his soul. Once the secret of Lisa's power and her legacy, the action starts and keeps on going.

This story was very different from the first book in the series in the fact that there is now a group of humans who know vampires exist, and want to exterminate them. The hero is a member of this group, but once he sees Darcy he cannot accept the fact that she is a member of Club Undead. Plus the twist of having a vampiric reality television show was a hoot. I think that people will enjoy how this love story turned out and the ending was somewhat of a surprise because I did not think such a thing was possible. To find out what I mean, please read the book.

This review is for Shelley Munro's novella the Price of Love. Even though this was a short story, it had all the elements necessary to make it a great read. You have the girl who know what she wants, just not how to get him. The guy, who has finally come to his senses and realized that the woman he needs is right in front of him. We have danger, older brothers, and beautiful rubies. The rubies are essential for the bride price that Kersen must come up with to claim Jarita. I would recommend this book to any who enjoy feline shifters.
