I'm a very picky reader; something about the book - especially when reading new authors - has to catch my attention. Maybe a new angle on an old topic, or an interesting twist on a stale story line. It might be as simple as the cover picture or the fly leaf "blurb." However, in a situation where there's no choice, I'll read anything that doesn't move: magazines, cereal boxes. It doesn't matter. I've been that way since I learned to read my first word.

I do have my favorites, though; authors whose works I'll read regardless: Steven Jay Gould, Oliver Sacks, Kim Stanley Robinson, Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov. « less
