Just discovered a new responsibility that goes with this book list malarky - recommendations! Well, I'm not sure I can do that, and certainly not by clicking yes or no. Anyone who reads at all will know it's not that simple, you need to know the person and the book or you need to be able to qualify your opinion in some way to compensate for bias. Take 'The curious Incident of the Dog in the Night'. It won critical aclaim but I disliked it intensely because it had, for me, no depth or complexity. It was linear and uni-dimensional and tedious. Worse, it was supposed to illustrate the workings of the mind of someone with an autistic spectrum condition and there are people who actually have the condition who do that better, albeit not in a novel. So, my opinion is really neither here nor there, if you have a book and you have time, read it and decide for yourself. If I remember what a book was like (and I did put this list up pretty much in one go so I read some of them in the middle of the last century!) I'll rate it so balance that against what you judge to be my preference in the context of your own. What do you have to lose?
