Thanks for the new info. I didn't realize that he had other books that had a different perspective. I may look into that.

Don't let me discourage you about your recommendations. Please send them! I tend to be a little too picky about what I allow myself to enjoy, probably. Too 'religious', not enough grace... and when it comes to your recommendations and reviews, I believe I can be a bit more trusting than I would be for some.

Yes, I read through a few books in that series. Got to the point I actually developed a Torturer class for Dungeons and Dragons! It was a rather intriguing perspective on being a person with such an occupation. With my current spiritual frame of reference, remembering what little I do at the moment, I think I would find it rather negative and disconcerting to reread. I rented a "Dragonriders of Pern" audio-book set for a roadtrip once, and it was disappointing to see how immoral values were both advocated and yet subtly intertwined in the story. I wonder if I would run into the same thing with Gene Wolfe's books. I hadn't thought about them in a long time.

Mark thanks for the invite. I'll see what I can do to share books et al. I listen to a fair amount via audio books, but I'm reading some too. I read more fiction, and listen to more non-fiction. I'm not great at keeping in touch via these social networking sites, but we'll see... maybe this will be a good shared ministry. :) -BruceBawcom
