“I went in to this book hesitantly, as some of the reviews seemed a bit tepid, but I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was a delightfully nuanced story which deviated from the "whammo, you're my mate" thing that we see in so many books, in favor of a nicely nuanced story about two broken people who decide to consider a relationship, maybe love, and find that they have the capacity to care, to love, even if it looks a bit different than they expected. We, the reader, can see that they will absolutely be OK, but it's their cautious approach that sweetens the tale for me.
The story is told in the middle of intrigue and murder in Neha's court and again, I thought it was a great portrayal of complex characters that have layered stories of love and betrayal driving their actions. Characters from previous books are brought in, their stories integrated with with varying degrees of success, and Venom gets lots of good "air time", making me hope we'll hear more about him in the future.
This might my favorite book, second only to Angel's Blood. Give it a go- ”
