Just finished On A Pale Horse. I liked it so much I went out and bought Book 2. What a great concept. It only took me about 15 years to read it since you recommended it to me. Now about that Cowboy wally...
I just bought On a Pale Horse today. I remember you used to always try to get me to read it. I'll let you know what I think.
Did you actually read Cowboy Wally, or are you just humoring me? After 20 years of hype, was it all worth it?
Hey Chris, I read the book about 7 years ago (I tried but failed to limitmy shelf to books read no longer than 5 years ago), so my memory of itisn't fresh, but for me it lived up to James Lee Burke's reputation as anexcellent writer. The book reveals the extent of Louisianna's mafiaunderbelly; the subplot of the Confederate ghosts is done well..it fitsinto the overall structure and adds more depth to the things happening inpresent time. Burke's characters are complex and flawed and memorable. It's a very good & entertaining novel & you can get a good used one fromAmazon for 1 cent, or a like new one for 2 or 3 bucks. I'd recommend James Lee Burke's novels anytime, maybe not every one, but certainly most!
anyone for starting up a shelfari 12 step program?
Hey Chris, I can see how you could become obsessed with it! I love it. I'll add Monica...do I invite her or is their another way? I also found a girl who has 7 of my alltime favorites at the top of her list. Wahoo!
This is so cool! Six of the books on your list would be on my list. That means I really want to read the rest of these! Thanks!
