Chris! Long time, no hear. So glad to hear from you and I hope all is going well with you. I'm doing fine. I'm about 1/3 into The American Wife and it's good so far, but I understand the last half is draggy. It's loosely based on Laura Bush's life, and some of the events are pretty shocking, so I need to check it out and see if it's all supposed to have happened.

I have also not been in the new CHS and have no word on how things are going. I know that all the counselors are new, the registrar is new, the principal is new and, of course, the building is new. So guess it's a "fresh start" for everyone, huh? Pat Galloway retired but is backing working full-time, I hear, so she can train the new counselors. Guess she's the most experienced one around.

Take care, hope you are having a good school year and stay in touch!

    Hi Chris,
My daughter, Laura, got me to list here and then felt sorry that I had no friends, so I did the search and saw you were listed. No surprise! Hope everyone is doing well! Send me an email giving me updates!

Just finished On A Pale Horse. I liked it so much I went out and bought Book 2. What a great concept. It only took me about 15 years to read it since you recommended it to me. Now about that Cowboy wally...

Did you actually read Cowboy Wally, or are you just humoring me? After 20 years of hype, was it all worth it?

Hey Chris, I read the book about 7 years ago (I tried but failed to limit
my shelf to books read no longer than 5 years ago), so my memory of it
isn't fresh, but for me it lived up to James Lee Burke's reputation as an
excellent writer. The book reveals the extent of Louisianna's mafia
underbelly; the subplot of the Confederate ghosts is done well..it fits
into the overall structure and adds more depth to the things happening in
present time. Burke's characters are complex and flawed and memorable.
It's a very good & entertaining novel & you can get a good used one from
Amazon for 1 cent, or a like new one for 2 or 3 bucks. I'd recommend James Lee Burke's novels anytime, maybe not every one, but certainly most!

    Hey Chris,
I can see how you could become obsessed with it! I love it. I'll add Monica...do I invite her or is their another way? I also found a girl who has 7 of my alltime favorites at the top of her list. Wahoo!
