Cigarette Widow

Cigarette Widow

I dabbled in ink and paper most part of the day, trying somehow, to make the frozen oceans ripple in a soft whisper and a cloud, motionless, in the midst of a storm. He read. Then stared. Then jeered - "What's your point?" I was a little struck, then elucidated. He proceeded next, to pick up several emblematic little knives and stab me in the... more »

You have an interesting shelf: deep and eclectic at the same time. I noticed that about 20% of your shelf coincides with mine- probably more when you factor in Shelfari's sometimes strange cataloging system. I noticed that you have read several books by Noam Chomsky and had a favorable opinion of them. If I were to read one of his books, where is a good place to start? I hope you are having a good day (or evening by this time). Drop me a line soon. Jason

Hello I've read three novels by Murakami since of the time you recommended it to me, Kafka on the shore, Norwegian wood and Windup Bird Chronicle. And it's kind of very funny I still couldn't made any decisions about his writing, he's strange. Could you suggest any of his other book or authors like him?

I was first very impressed with what you wrote on your profile. Catch-22 is also one of my very favorites. On your Plan To Read shelf I see Never let Me Go by Ishiguro. I suggest it highly. I see you already have an appreciation of him as a writer from others you have read. Remains of the Day is very special to me. There are some others on your shelf that are not rated so i don't know of you love or hate them....but are favorites of mine: The Stranger, Metamorphosis, Like Water For Chocolate, Congo, Memoirs of a Geisha. From your obvious dark leanings into fiction I want to suggest The Woman In The Dunes by Abo. -John

I've enjoy Rahakrishnan's writings about Indian Philosophy quite a bit, but as far as lit goes, my favorite was the Ramayana. It was a page turner, once I got past the beginning stuff.
