Happy New Year to you too! I've got an account over there but haven't kept it up like I do here. I'm going on maternity leave (finally!) and won't have as much time on the internet (ironic) but I will certainly find you over @ GR so we can keep in touch - don't want to lose my best book buddy :) Also, thanks for the heads-up about importing my bookshelf from Shelfari to GR, I didn't realize you could do that, and starting over was a big reason why I didn't bother to update my GR.
So glad we got to be friends, you've really been fabulous!! Take care of you and yours, and I will email you soon!

Glad you and yours had a safe and happy Thanksgiving - how lucky to be so close to the Macy's parade! I've lived here in CA most of my life and every year since I was a kid we've watched on tv (it was COLD there!!) I wasn't ready to come back to work either, and I'm counting the days until that week-long break as well, let me tell you!
I know just what you mean about the evolution of you taste, and especially the chagnes in expection - a few years ago I was fine with some steamy romance, but these days I want my characters to have some meat on them, as well as some depth. Those stories that do have those elements really make an impact, and leave me thinking of them for days after. Whereas on the flip side those that don't amost irritate me, like I'm watching a poorly-done soap instead of a gritty movie. Anyway! That's my take, and it's so great to have someone to commiserate with! :)
Ok, ok, you've got me hooked - today I'm going to sneak by my local (and soon to be out-of-business) Borders and grab a K. M. Moning book! Darkfever has had a lot of recs in the blog-sphere that I frequent, plus I figure if you liked it I most likely will too :)
Let me know what you think of the Nora book; I tried the first one in the series, but I think I was looking more for an action/fantasy romance when I read it and it didn't quite hit the spot. But it's LA NORA for goodness sakes, I once read like, 6 of her books in a row and STILL loved her! LOL I know if it's one of hers it will be enjoyable, as long as it's what I'm needing to read at the time. Let me know what you think of it when you're done.
    Take care!

Hey Christine! I haven't tried Ms. Moning, but I've seen her books and definitely thought about it; I think I will start my own challenge of picking up books that I get recommendations for and have thought twice about - not too wild of a challenge, but with my tiny little book allowance sometimes it's a big chance to take ;)
I adore books where the author takes you to a place where you just *know* what they're going to do next and then she completly takes you by surprise - that's how I felt with Dayton's books & The Iron Duke. I'm the opposite of you though - I've got Brook's Guardian series on my To Buy list since the moment I finished Iron Duke.
I've often wondered how much of who I am at the time (or what's going on in my life) affects how I perceive a book - and how many books I would really like it given a second chance - sounds like another challenge! Thanks for the stimulating book talk! Have a great holiday

Hey, good to hear from ya! I just finished Heart's Blood by Gayle Dayton & The Iron Duke by Maljean Brooks and LOVED both so much - it's so great when you find a point where the autor could totally have gone with the the cliche, and then takes you in a whole new direction. BTW, loved Butterfly Swords too! So glad I got that rec from you. I love Kristin Higgins, and Alll I Ever Wanted is a favorite.
Good luck with your challenge! Please let me know of any other recommendations you've got, I've really enjoyed the ones you given so far. Starting Tracking The Tempest today :)

Thanks so much, I'll pop in and see what you are up to :) I'm thinking I will enjoy a lot of YA if I would give it a chance - since my monthly book allowance is not even close to the size of my Wish List I tend to be very picky about what I read, but I realize I'm missing out on a lot of really good books! I've really liked the YA I've read recently - Graceling is the only one that comes to mind. If you have any Must Reads let me know, although I did already make a note to pick up 'The Iron King' thanks to your shelf ;)

Hi, I am sweet little boy. Once you read this you cannot get out. Finish reading this
until it is done! As I said, I am sweet little girl. I am 15 1/2 years old. I have no eyes
and blood all over my face. I am dead. If you don't send this to at least 12
people I will come to your house at midnight and I'll hide under your bed.
When you're asleep, I'll kill you.
    Don't believe me?

    Case 1:
    tammy vo
Got this e-mail. She doesn't believe in chain letters. Well, Foolish tammy.
She was sleeping when her TV started flickering on and off. Now she's not
with us anymore. Ha ha tammy, Ha ha! You don't want to be like tammy, do
    you?

    Case 2:
    brendon li
Hates chain mail, but he didn't want to die that night. He sent it to 4
people. Not good enough brendon. Now, brendon is in a coma, we don't know if
he'll ever wake up. Ha ha brendon, Ha ha! Now, do you want to be like brendon?

    Case 3:
    tracy vo
She got this letter. Another chain letter she thought. Only had 7 people to
send to. Well, That night when she was having a shower she saw bloody Mary
in the mirror. It was the BIGGEST fright of her life.tracy is scarred for
    life.

    Case 4:
    Nick L.
This is the final case I'll tell you about. Well, nick was a smart person.
He sent it to 12 people. Later that day, he found a $100.00 bill on the
ground. He was premoted to head officer at his job and his girlfriend said
yes to his purposal. Now, Katie and him are living happily ever after. The
    have 2 beautiful children.

Send this to at least 12 people or you'll face the consequences.

0 people- You will die tonight

1-6 people- you will be injured

7-11 people- you will get the biggest fright of your life

12 and over- you are safe and will have good fortune

Hi! It's so nice to talk to someone about books! Besides the blogs I check out, I don't know really talk to anyone about books, so your input is really great :) I'm actually taking your recs to the book store today, I really appreciate it, and I love that we both have so many of the same likes. I do believe I'm caught up on the In Death series, but I'll for sure check out the Ice series.
Yup, the new pic is my Bunny, she's the best, and thanks for the congrats! ;) It will mean a lot less reading time but it's worth it!! And I'll just have to get in as many good reads as possible in the next couple months.
Oh, would you mind sending me your blog info again, I can't seem to find the info you sent last time and I really want to check it out. Thanks again!
