I manage to read lots of novels thanks to my bus commute to my job every day.
I work as a cashier at Staples, but I also write weekly astrology content, take art courses at night, and read tarot cards and astrology for select clients. I live in the west end of Toronto with my hubby, my two (now adult) children, 3 cats and a pittadore (lab... more »

They can be somewhat heavy, not your normal romance lite. For something fun, choose one by Jennifer Crusie

Not the latest hardcover "burning lamp" but all the others. Its also connected to her modern series which comes out under Jayne Ann Krentz. The Amanda Quick are about the founding of a secret society and the Krentz ones are about the activitries of them today. I love them

Hi there! Just thought I'd pop by to let you know that the book we read was The Cellist of Sarajevo. There is a discussion going on about it right now, if you've read it.

We're probably going to read more of the books that were nominated by request of one of the members. Most likely we'll read the next one in May to discuss it in June. Take a look at the thread if you're interested.

Hi! I’m from the Canada group, just popping by to let you know that we are trying to drum up interest in doing a group read. We have a thread started for anyone who is interested to let us know they are interested. Once we know there will be a few people, we’ll then decide on a book (Canadian author, of course!). Hope you decide to join us!

I have been stuck in a "3 star" book rut lately, nothing with a wow factor. The last couple of books I read that I gave a higher rating were:
One Second After By William R. Forstchen - if you read post-apocalyptic fiction this is one of the best I have read in a long time- really scary because it could happen.
    On the more literary side:
Little Bee by Chris Cleave was moving. So was Labor Day by Joyce Maynard. Both great books I would recommend and I have seen that they have gotten great reviews from other readers.

Thanks so much for accepting my friend request. While I have you here, I was wondering . . . would you be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here (as well as on a few other book-related sites). I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

I though "The Help" was a great book. It was so engrossing that I read it in 3 days. I enthusiastically recommend it.

My lack of focus has prevented me from reading much lately. I read and really enjoyed Peace Like A River for my book group. You have quite a few books on your shelf that I am looking forward to reading too!
I did pick up a book from the library that I hope to get to soon, it's gotten good reviews. It's called The Sky Isn't Visible from Here: Scenes from a Life
    by Felicia Sullivan.
