I started reading when I was 4 years old and it's been one of my favorite pastimes ever since.
When I was younger, I used to hide in the bathtub and read while I was supposed to be doing chores or homework. Now, I keep at least 2 books in my car at all times (usually short story compilations) just in case I get stuck somewhere with time to read.
I have fairly varied taste in books, though I prefer historical settings and classic novels. My favorite author of all time is Jane Austen. I read
Pride and Prejudice for the first time when I was 9 years old and promptly fell in love. I still try to read it at least once every 2 years.
I also collect books. I have several hundred books that I have gathered throughout my life. My favorites are the vintage/antique/rare books that I've collected. Some, like my 80-year-old set of
The Complete Works of Shakespeare have significant sentimental value. Other favorites of mine include my first editions of Daphne du Maurier's
Rebecca and L.M. Montgomery's
Anne of Green Gables. The
Anne of Green Gables is the book that began my collection. I bought it at an antique store when I was 10 years old for less than $5.
