    by Felisha Bradshaw
    • Rated 5 stars

Eyes on the Pryze by Felicia Bradshaw Amazon: 5 APOOO: 5 And The Winner Is… Eyes on the Pryze by Felisha Bradshaw is a hardcore, riveting novel about twins separated from drug addicted parents and growing up in the drug game. This book gives you an inside look at the drug game, ride-or-die chicks, hostile environments and brotherly love. Chase and Caine Pryze are twin brothers who are taken from their parents due to drug addiction. Chase is reunited with his family but Caine is left on his own. Chase is growing up in Bridgeport, Connecticut and Caine is running wild in the streets of New York City. Each brother thinks the other is living a good life, until they come face-to-face and find out they are rivals in the drug game. When Chase loses his girlfriend, Phoenix, to his estranged brother, Caine, he thinks his world has come to an end. But little does he know that it is just the beginning of his problems when his right-hand man runs off with the drop off money, and his drug connection is missing; Chase’s well runs dry. Can Chase come out of this battle alive? Will he reconcile with his long lost brother? Which brother will Phoenix choose? This is a fast-paced drama that will have you craving for more, I recommend this book to readers of all genres who enjoy a good story. Reviewed by: Cheryl H APOOO BookClub

    Whatever It Takes

    Justified?

Whatever It Takes by Dwayne Murray, SR is a fast-paced, action-packed novel that will have you envisioning it on the big screen. This book was breath-taking, with its suspenseful scenes, gripping descriptions, and vigilante characters; I could not help but read this book in one sitting. I refused to get up until I was finished!

Compelling, heart-wrenching, and cold-blooded are some of the qualities you will find in the main characters, Butch and Zig Steel. These brothers are holding a twenty-five year grudge and they intend on seeking revenge if it is the last thing they do. With horrifically graphic descriptions of what these two will do for retribution, I found myself breathing hard as if I was the one running to escape the wrath of the Steel brothers.

Butch and Zig are on a manhunt to cash in on an event that left them angry, bitter, and callous to society. Jesse James and Brenda Simple are two detectives who are trying to save the lives of Penny Baker, a girl who plays an intricate part in the payback the Steel brothers are trying to execute.

Words cannot describe how good this book is; I felt like I was part of the story. From every car chase, to every gunshot, my heart was racing and I could not get enough of this story.
Grab a copy. I recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a well described book. The scenes were so graphic and well-told, and the author tops it all off with an alternative ending. You decide which ending you like. I loved it, KUDOOOOOOS! To Dwayne Murray, SR.

    Satisfied

    by Rukyyah J. Karreem
    • Rated 5 stars

Shame, dishonor, love, jealousy and misguided souls fill the pages of Satisfied by Rukyyah J. Karreem. This book grabbed a hold of me and would not let go until I completed it in one night. I was drawn to the descriptive love scenes, the friendship gone bad, and the scandal that almost led to the downfall of two best friends.

Ebony and Alex are best friends and neither has been in a relationship full of love, trust and satisfaction. Alex, however, has been living off of Ebonys’ stories but when she least expects it she finds a love of her own. Ebonys’ affair with her boss, Terence, was a secret until circumstances led her to quit her job and not answer anymore of his phone calls. When Terrance finds out why she is trying to keep him in the dark, he professes undying love for her, and just in time his divorce looks like it might become final.

Alex meets Deshaun, her boss’ very attractive son, and not only is he drop-dead gorgeous but he is available too. Alex and Deshaun’s relationship spins faster than I can turn the pages of the book, but it seems now Ms. Ebony is jealous. Ebony was happy that she was the only one getting showered with attention and gifts, now it looks like Alex has not only fallen in love but is completely satisfied.

This book is filled with jealousy, hatred, betrayal and commitment-shy folks. I loved it as I could definitely relate to the jealous friend situation. How come it is so hard for people to wish each other well in love? This is a well-written book and I recommend it to everyone who likes a good read. The ending is a killer!

    Just a Season

    by John, T. Wills
    • Rated 0 stars

    The Dash –

What do you see when looking at a tombstone? There is a start date, a dash, and an end date, but what happens in between is the question posed in Just a Season by John T. Wills. Wills feels that your life is defined by the dash. So much has happened to you in your lifetime that only the dash can tell this significant story. This novel is a cross between a history reference guide and a boy’s journey to becoming a man. This story takes place in the 1950s’ where segregation, discrimination and prejudices were running rampant. Just a Season is a journey through Tucks’ life, his love and dedication to his grandfather and family. Showcased are the trials-and- tribulations he faces growing up, and having to help support his family at a young age, to becoming a man and supporting a family of his own.

Just a Season embodied the traits of loyalty, guidance an the understanding of how to handle the pressure of being a young black man in a time when you could get lynched for speaking to the wrong woman, or being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Wills pulls you in from the very first page and takes you step-by-step through the countryside dealing with farm living, to fighting in the war in Japan. I felt like I was there and was learning right along with him as he faced his biggest fears, and tried to defeat those who thought he did not have the courage or experience to become a strong black man in today’s society.

Just s Season is a heart-wrenching story about growing up and believing in yourself.
I highly recommend this book to young men in high school, trying to find themselves and feeling like they have nowhere to turn.
