Though, he has alternative motives for being there too. He pursues his deceased wife's wishes to kill the man, Andrew Laeddis, who lit the match that killed her. As the story progresses Teddy is forced to believe (at the hands of Dr. Cauley) that he is actually a patient at Ashecliffe who shot his wife after she drowned their three children.
