Tam Lin (characters)

This character appears in 14 books.

  1. The House of the Scorpion

    by Nancy Farmer

Tam Lin: He is like Matt's father. He cares for Matt and treats him like a human being. He is eventually the main reason Matt is able to escape. He trains Matt to survive in the wilderness, leaves Matt secret supplies, and eventually tells Matt that there is no difference between humans and clones. Tam Lin used to be a terrorist in Great Britian, and he accidentally killed 20 children. So, as a type of punishment to himself, he allows himself to be killed with all of El Patron's family and friends at El Patron's funeral by drinking the poisoned wine El Patron left behind. El Patron wanted to be burried with "his people" like the Chaldean kings.

    Memorable Quotes by Tam Lin:

“Very dark indeed is his majesty when he wants to be. When he was young, he made a choice, like a tree does when it decides to grow one way or the other. He grew large and green until he shadowed over the whole forest, but most of his branches are twisted.”

“You're the one possession El Patron let slip through his fingers. (page 246).”

“Here's the dirty little secret...No one can tell the difference between a clone and a human. That's because there isn't any difference. The idea of clones being inferior is a filthy lie. (page 245).”
