Remy Starr: Remy the main character who had relationship problems because of the inability her mother has to keep a marriage. Seeing all her mom's failed marriages, she says that she doesn't believe in love. She is obsessive about the cleanliness and does not allow anyone to eat or smoke in her car, but that role broke with Dexter. Remy got her name from an expensive brand of cognac her mother saw in Harper's Bazaar. She is emotionally scarred by her past, as her father, who she never knew, wrote her the song "This Lullaby" the day she was born, and then left after. The song becomes a one hit wonder, and Remy is always hearing it. She says that she can tell when a relationship is about to end. She and her brother used to guess and see how long her mothers marriages would last. Remy would always win. She used to be known for sleeping around and partying.
“My mother was strong, in all the ways I was weak. She fell, she hurt, she felt. She lived. And for all the tumble of her experiences, she still had hope. Maybe this time would do the trick. Or maybe not. But unless you stepped into the game, you would never know.”
