  1. Have Mercy On Me, An Ecological Sinner

    by Daniel A. Salomon

Paul Loab: Thanks to Paul Loab for his wonderful book, Soul of a Citizen: Living with Conviction in a Cynical World (New York: St. Martin’s Griffin, 1999) where he forcefully affirmed the laudability of being an activist as a socially acceptable outlet. I especially benefited from Loab’s extensive discussion on the topic of “Compassion Fatigue.” But, the most important gift that Loeb gave me was to not “give-up too quickly.” To actually dare me to try yet again, even, after all my bad experiences, even, because of my bad experiences. He taught me that I do not need to be more isolated then I have to be. That just because I had a bad experience in the past, does not mean I will necessarily have a bad experience in the present or the future. Instead, I needed to be open, to being pleasantly surprised.
