Murtagh: An older boy whom Eragon meets on his journey, and who joins his quest. He has a mysterious past and is wanted by the Empire. He is an incredible swordsman who matched Eragon blow for blow. He is later revealed to be Morzan's son.

Murtagh: A warrior who helps Eragon when he tries to save Arya from Durza
Murtagh: Once a friend of Eragon's, and was believed to be dead after the battle in Farthen Dûr. He is now a Dragon Rider, with his loyalties sworn to Galbatorix in the ancient language, and is bound to Thorn, a red dragon.
Murtagh: Dark-haired broad-shouldered man, son of Morzan and Selena half brother of Eragon
