When Gordon proposes to "bury" the two of them in front of witnesses, Griffin refuses, lending more credence to the fake burial of Moray, thereby protecting his life and Gordon. He is confidant that Queen Anne will merely imprison him for life in the Tower instead of executing him. His assessment is correct. He died of old age in London.
