This character appears in 2 books.

  1. Earthsea: Book 3

    The Farthest Shore

    by Ursula K. Le Guin

    Memorable Quotes by Ged:

“… an act is not, as young men think, like a rock that one picks up and throws, and it hits or misses, and that’s the end of it. When the rock is lifted, the earth is lighter, the hand that bears it heavier. When it is thrown the circuits of the stars respond, and where it strikes or falls the universe is changed. On every act the balance of the whole depends... We must learn to keep the balance. Having intelligence, we must not act in ignorance. Having choice, we must not act without responsibility. Who am I – though I have the power to do it – to punish and reward, playing with men’s destinies?”

“There must be darkness to see the stars.”

  2. Earthsea: Book 2

    The Tombs of Atuan

    by Ursula K. Le Guin

Ged: Ged is just a boy when he is revealed in great magical power, saving his village from invasion. As stated in A Wizard of Earthsea, is instructed by the magician Ogión, who sends him to Roke, where he became a magician, but he must learn the rules of the world of Earthsea as referenced in the book. Then it becomes a legendary wizard of Earthsea, to recover the ring-Akbé Erreth (as recounted in The Tombs of Atuan), and getting clean up the gap that has opened in the world in The Far Side, restoring the Terramar royal lineage.

    Memorable Quotes by Ged:

“The Earth is beautiful, and bright, and kindly, but that is not all. The Earth is also terrible, and dark, and cruel. The rabbit shrieks dying in the green meadows. The mountains clench their great hands full of hidden fire. There are sharks in the sea, and there is cruelty in men’s eyes.”
