Evelyn Ffolkes, Evelyn, Eve: Evelyn Gaius Ffolkes is an eccentric composer, the son of Lucian, Lord Vallentine and the Lady Estee, sister of the Duke of Roxton. Thus he is the nephew of the wealthiest and most powerful Duke in England. He lives in a grace and favor apartment in his uncle’s Parisian mansion, the Hotel Roxton on the Rue St. Honore. Rich and idle, Eve wears the latest Parisian fashions in frockcoat and high heels. However, he is devoted to his music, and composes as well as plays the viola and the clavichord. He has no time for gossip or intrigue. Eve’s best friend is his first cousin, Julian, Marquis of Alston. The death of his good friend and fellow musician Otto Cavendish affected him deeply. He proposed to Otto’s younger sister Deb only to have the engagement opposed by his uncle the Duke. He is not known to have any romantic interests or a mistress, which would take away from the time devoted to his music. Eve supports other musicians, offering lavish dinners and his silk chaise to sleep on from time to time.
