   Eddie Main-ten-ance: Growing up, Eddie and Joe were always beaten by their father. He had a bad habit of drinking profusely and lashing it out on them. After the war, when Eddie came back home, his father came at him drunk, telling him to get a job, and when he tried to punch Eddie, he stopped his punch, and Eddie's father never talked to him after that. He comes to terms with his dad when he talks with the third person he meets in heaven, Ruby.
