Chandler's Lost Pony

Chandler's Lost Pony

I am originally from England but currently live in South Carolina, USA. I am a firm believer that reading does for the mind what exercise does for the body. I try and read as often as I can and have only ever given up on 1 book which was The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy. I am delighted to have joined this group to broaden my reading genres.

Just wanted to let you know that I got your book, The Kite Runner, but I have already read the book and have my own copy. Due to this, please save yourself the shipping and handling and just hold onto the book.

How odd, I never got your message about Wachovia! Congratulations! I just saw it when I hit reply to your newest message. Teresa and I were talking about you today. We miss you!

I'm glad you're enjoying the swap. I love these type of games. My book is Moon Called, so it's been in play a little while.

I've been busy! It's been so hectic around here since the girls started school. Last night, we had to pick up trash in Heath Springs with the Daisy Scouts. Tomorrow night from 5 - 7, I'll be working at Chic-fil-a for the school.

What's going on with you? Have you found a more permanent job yet?

He hasn't really been trying too hard to find a job yet. I spent a long time Saturday online emailing him some listings though. He may look into a couple of them.

They went Thursday for a full day for testing. Now, they won't go back until Tuesday and then it's full time. They said they had fun but didn't learn anything. LOL!

    How are things?

Oh wow! I love the song Forever by Papa Roach. I haven't seen them live, but I know some bands aren't as good live. I saw Buck Cherry when they first starting out and they didn't sound as good as they did on the radio, plus they only talked about drugs.

I have more pics, but I've been too lazy to get them on the computer. :) I had to share the one of Adam though. I'm too embarrassed to tell you how long I stared at it.

It didn't sell out, but every seat except for the very top two rows were full.

I bet that was a good show! I like Papa Roach and Hinder better than Nickleback though. :)

I'm still not too sure about this game yet either. I've enjoyed the games in the past more so far. It may get better as it goes along.

I just finished The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman for the England tag. I would have read it yesterday, but I was in Charlotte all day for the tailgate party and concert. I met 7 of the 10 Idols and got their autographs. Sadly, I couldn't get Adam's, which happened to be the only one I (and everyone else it seems) really wanted. :(

Hi Pony, did you get my message (email) from today? I suggest that I read France first (in leg 2 on Tuesday) and you read Japan first. Is that OK for you? My Japan book is a bit big and looks like it might take a bit longer than I would like.

Congrats on finishing your England book. Are you going to do the individual challenge too, and read a China book? I'm almost done with my England book.

Did you get up with JudithAnn?

I've send you one just now, check your email (that you entered when registering at Shelfari). Eurowinners sounds good, my idea was going to be something with ex-england, ex-british, but I couldn't think of a good one.

If you want to do the individual challenge too, then you'll also have to read a China book. I'll start China book first then move onto the English book (i.e., tagged with England, China).

    Happy reading!

Pony, I sent you a personal message saying much the same as you did! Did you not get it (on your email)? I don't mind, I picked up a China book from the library yesterday so I'm fine to start with that. I'll be the captain if you think of a team name! :-)

Hi there! Where have you been? Any news on the job front? We found out today that my husband will be losing his job. Fortunately, he has a year before it happens, but it still sucks.

I was at Curves yesterday. My nephew's birthday party is at 6:00 today (don't know why they don't wait for the weekend), so I won't be there today. I'll be there tomorrow though.

The game is based on The Amazing Race, I think. Each leg of the game consists of two countries. We'll be divided into teams of two. One person reads a book about or set in one country and the other person does the same for the other country. We'll get more details as the game gets closer. She's got the basics posted on the group page under the thread called "Sign Up for the Amazing Read" or something like that.

Hi, CLP! Your comment in the Time Travel thread about an interest in the old South sent me over to suggest Edward Jones' The Known World. It's set in Virginia in the 1840s and is about a black slave owner. (It won a Pulitzer and I thought it might be on 1001 books, but I just checked and it's not.) I read it during the Bunny Hop game and if you're seeking out different perspectives on the history of your new home region, this is one!

Looking forward to seeing more of your reviews at book tag-

If they are from the 1001 books..., you can start a discussion with your name and list your books that way and then you can find your list when ever you want to add to it. You just do a search of discussion under the group and put your name as the search and you will find your original list. Other books should be put on your personal shelf.
