The Optimist's Daughter is my favorite Welty story/novel!! Did you enjoy it? Also laughed hard and out loud at Why I Live at the P.O.--do you know that one? We lived in Jackson, MS for six years, right down the street from Ms. Welty--my husband saw her in the Piggly Wiggly (the local market--great name, huh?). Did you know she was a photographer? Did some wonderful sort of Dorothea Lang (Lange?)/WPA type photographs.

Nice to see someone else likes Li Po. I really love his work. Who's your favorite Chinese poetry translator--if you have one.. I really like Kenneth Rexroth. There was one guy who actually tried to make it rhyme!! Note--I read other things, just was happy to see Li Po on someone else's site....there's probably a Chinese poetry group on Shelfari...gonna go off and look now....

That was a great walk! I'm kind of excited to take other people there next year and make it some kind of tradition. Yeah... TWHF is incredible. It's funny that you haven't annotated it yet (or... maybe not funny to you).

Hey Chad, I'm glad we're friends here on Shelfari and in person, soon again, in NM. Lots of good books on your shelf. Gee, why do so many look familiar? :) --Nancy
