my sister gave me that to read for the airplane ride home, and i literally cried for the last hour of the flight. with many little tears before that. argh. i read another one, i forget which and it wasn't anywhere near as bad. but it also wasn't as good of a book. the girl runs away to alaska and her dad is a comic book writer - don't grab that one if you have a choice. have you read any anita shreve's? those are pretty good.
