Books are among my favorite things in the world. I love them so much, I teach from them at school, I give them as gifts, I'm constantly running out of shelf space for them in my house, and I think the world can be saved by reading and studying books.

I am teacher. I teach Seventh Grade Language Arts - Reading and Writing. A few years... more »

When I finish writing my book, I will send Natalie Goldberg a fruit basket and some yellow cheese. I couldn't have gotten this far without her.

This book thoroughly entertained and thrilled me. I listened to it on audiobook every morning and afternoon on my way to work. I looked forward to my daily commute so that I could return to the characters and their intwining schemes. It is an excruitiatingly beautiful story with strong characters, and a villain so dispicable I found myself grinding my teeth every time I heard his name.

This book changed my life. After reading it, I realized that this was the kind of story I would someday like to write.

"The Hobbit" holds the esteemed place in my heart and bookshelf as being the first book I ever really loved. My Aunt Debbie, who always gives us books for presents, gave me a copy when I was 10. I struggled through it, but was rewarded by its timeless story and beloved protagonists. It's clear that Tolkien cherished every blade of grass, every rock, and every tree in Middle Earth, and that sentiment transcends to his countless fans.

I re-read "The Hobbit" earlier this year, just because I had re-read all of The Lord of The Rings series and "The Children of Hurin" and hadn't gotten Tolkien out of my system. It is completely worth the re-read.
